Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

This month is about recognizing the contributions, strengths, and voices of individuals with developmental disabilities. Since 1987, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) has been an opportunity to challenge misconceptions, promote inclusion, and push for a world where accessibility and equal opportunities aren’t just ideals, but realities.

Inclusion starts with awareness, but it doesn’t end there. It means taking the time to learn about the challenges people face, supporting workplaces and schools that embrace diversity, speaking up for policies that ensure equal opportunities, and amplifying the voices of those who have been historically overlooked. Every conversation, every action, and every bit of advocacy helps create a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive.

Let’s do more than acknowledge this month—let’s make inclusion a daily practice.
