A mix of our most veteran and newest staff members came together with our clients to focus on fire safety as we enter this winter.
Thank you to everyone who participated!
New Residential Supervisor
November 2nd, 2021
We are very excited to announce Robin Estes as our new residential supervisor! Read below and get to know our brand new residential supervisor.
“I am the new residential supervisor, joining the residential team alongside Janna and Shirley! You may already know me as I've been working as the day program supervisor here at LCKS since 2019.
I am originally from Missouri and moved to Kansas with my husband to start our family 20 years ago. We have three kids; two daughters, and one son. We recently got a new edition to our family, our puppy named Milo! I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books, doing outdoor work and playing with our puppy, of course!
I chose to work in this field because I have always enjoyed helping others from different backgrounds. I have worked in the field for over 20 years now. I started my career as a Paraeducator with the Blue Valley School District then moved onto the role as Job Coach. In that role I helped individuals learn new skills and achieve paid employment in the community. In 2019, I received the exciting opportunity to help open Life Centers' R'NEW retirement day program. It has been beautiful to watch many of my former Blue Valley Students grow into the adults they are today as I still have the opportunity to impact their lives in adult services.
My goals for the residential program are to support our staff members in providing optimal care to your loved one's and to make a genuine effort to ensure each group home feels like home. Such as, encouraging family style balanced meals, group activities and cozy surroundings.”

Employee Spotlight
July 8th, 2021
What's your role here and how long have you been working at LCKS?
“I am a direct support professional, and I work in the day service programs and the residential homes and I have worked here for two and half years total.”
How did you first begin working for LCKS?
“I cared for two other individuals before I started working at Life Centers of Kansas and when my situation changed I was out looking for a new job. I thought my experiences would qualify me for DSP work and I found Life Centers of Kansas, so I checked them out, interviewed, and got the job.”
Describe your personal experience working for LCKS?
Overall, it is a great experience and I have really enjoyed getting to know the clients. That is the biggest part of it, for me, being able to help them and be a part of their journey. Also, being with the clients and making sure they are happy and have a good quality of life.
Describe your experience at LCKS in 3 words.
“Fun, rewarding, and challenging.”
How has the company changed since you first began?
Obviously, the new building is a big change, but it seems like it has helped the overall organization here. The new building makes it easier for the workers and is a nice improvement from the last day service building. I’ve also seen increased benefits and they have created an improved work environment.
Favorite specific memory working here?
My favorite story from working here is when I first started here, and I was working with a client who had behavior issues. The other DSPs and I took a lot of time getting to know the person and really showed patience when working with the client. The client now does not have those behavior problems and you can see improvements in their attitude. They used to sit with their head down, but now their head is up, they are smiling, and their demeanor is much better. Being able to see the growth from the client is a great feeling.
What is your favorite part of being at Life Centers of Kansas?
The most fun part of working here is that I can goof off, especially more than I could at my previous jobs. When I work here I get to have fun with the clients and I can let loose in a way. When you work at other companies, they are stricter and it’s just not quite the same experience. Another thing that is good about this job is that there is a caring attitude from the management. They show respect for us, and by that, I mean even small things like texts. They always do their best to be respectful and not be demanding or bossy. The last important thing to me is when you see them, they take the time to say hello and ask how you are, and that really does mean a lot.
